In some parts of the world, repair has always been a service offered in the street. But even in countries where such services no longer existed, they are coming back in major cities, thanks to the new repair communities.

First free, collaborative, pop-up repair workshops organized in Melbourne by volunteers about repairing, in 2012, to coach others or to offer DIY repair of broken objects. Fix It! was founded by April Seymore, Renae Crosthwaite and Chandra Sundareswaran with the support of Sustainability Victoria and Metropolitan Waste Management Group.
