REPAIR COMMUNITIES

In some parts of the world, repair has always been a service offered in the street. But even in countries where such services no longer existed, they are coming back in major cities, thanks to the new repair communities.

The “Pop Up Repair” project started in 2013 as a four-week experimental repair shop staffed by theater artists to fix broken stuff as an alternative to use-and-discard. It soon became a convenient access to local repair services, where people can get things fixed: from high-tech to low-tech objects, and everything in between.
