REPAIR COMMUNITIES

In some parts of the world, repair has always been a service offered in the street. But even in countries where such services no longer existed, they are coming back in major cities, thanks to the new repair communities.

The Open Repair Alliance is an international group of repair communities all over the world. Has been launched in London in 2017 by four founding members: The Restart Project (UK), Fixit Clinic (US), Anstiftung Foundation (Germany) and iFixit (US), organizations committed to working to have electrical and electronic products more durable and easier to repair. Together, they are building an Open Repair Data Standard to enable community repair groups around the world to collect and share open data on electronics repairs performed at their events, extend information to commercial repairers and to promote advocacy for more easily repairable devices.
