Part of a larger research project of Hella Jongerius on the aesthetics of uncertainty, this is one of the experiments initiated with a group of internationally renowned designers by the Nature Conservancy. The vase is made of chicle, a natural latex derived from the chicozapote trees of the Mexican rain forest, and other materials. It was shown for the first time at the Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum in New York, in 2009.
