University programs and Research Centers on the design of the future have already started to work on repair as a potential response to the problem of the environmental impact of waste, especially in the case of discarded electronics (e-waste).

Born in 2018, the Culture of Repair Project is focused on bringing reparation to schools and educational nonprofits, especially Kids-12,
“to cultivate the well-being of individuals, communities, and the natural environment through changing our relationships with the material objects”. At a more fundamental level it’s about acting at local level to reinforce trans-global movement or repair. The Culture of Repair project acts on East bay, but it’s easy to export abroad as well.
