A non-governmental organization established in 1972 by Sanjit Roy when he was 27, and operating in 17 countries, that has created the first college to train women technicians to assemble, install and repair residential solar energy systems in the rural zones where they live. In this way, every village is capable of providing itself with systems that supply energy for cooking, heating and water desalination. “Barefoot College” has trained over three million persons.
