University programs and Research Centers on the design of the future have already started to work on repair as a potential response to the problem of the environmental impact of waste, especially in the case of discarded electronics (e-waste).

A design platform founded in Holland with the aim of having a positive influence on the relationships between products and users. The first initiative was the writing and online posting of a manifesto to promote the repair of objects, adopted by others in the maker-repair community and visited over one million times. The site has organized workshops and encounters, exhibitions, research projects and conferences. In 2006 it became a Foundation with headquarters in Amsterdam.
