REPAIR COMMUNITIES

In some parts of the world, repair has always been a service offered in the street. But even in countries where such services no longer existed, they are coming back in major cities, thanks to the new repair communities.

The Restart Project

Founded in London in 2012, The Restart Project is an organizations triggering encounters between repair communities and citizens who on a local level want to get involved in repair practices. Besides restart parties, The Restart Project launched learning program aimed at companies, on the theme of the repair. Investigating the matter of “non-repairable” consumer electronics in relation to their environmental and social impact, the organization has also developed an online prototype of a monitoring system, called Fixometer, to show the positive environmental impacts of their community repair.
